Sunflower Club is based in the school hall and offers all children attending Recreation Road Infant School a Breakfast Club and After School Club. We are Ofsted registered, a charitable organisation and run entirely separately from the school.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is open from 8.00am each morning for healthy breakfast and time for play. The children are offered a choice of cereals, toast, fruit juice and scotch pancakes or crumpets. Breakfast is offered from 8am to 8.30am.
After School Club
We are open every weekday until 6.00pm. We collect the children from their classrooms at the end of the school day and escort them to the school hall for drinks, fruit and biscuits and then registration. We have a large array of indoor and outdoor games and toys for the children to choose from, along with quiet area and TV area.
Holiday Playschemes
During school holidays and teacher training days the club will open from 8am to 6 pm. We offer a planned programme of varied activities for the children to enjoy.
Bookings
All children attending Recreation Road Infant School are welcome at the club, but you must complete a registration form before attendance. You can book for one or more sessions but any bookings we take we assume to be for the whole term.
Activities
We like to make the sessions as friendly and fun as possible and give the children lots of choices in their play. We recognise that after a day in school some children are tired and want to play quietly, whilst others have lots of energy and need to get rid of this! We place great emphasis on encouraging the children to share and take care of each other.
When the weather is good we tend to go outside for sports and games using the school playing fields. On rainy days we get stuck in to art and craft activities, We have lots of board games, toys and lego, and offer various colouring and drawing activities. Should the children need some down time they can o watch TV (for a limited time), or enjoy story books.
Snack Tea
We offer a healthy snack tea between 4pm and 5.00pm. The children are very involved in this helping to choose what we eat, and often helping with the preparation. We try to offer a selection of fruits, toast and spreads and a further choice such as pasta or noodles.
