Trialling Coding Websites @RRIS

Posted by on 26/04/2022

This week the Digital Leaders tried out some coding websites. First of all we looked at the free j2e turtle tool and programmed each of the different sprites on the 7 different template backgrounds. There were some surprises when you landed in certain squares.

Next we explored the Beebot Emulator and were surprised how much the online version looked, sounded and acted like the real thing! We enjoyed exploring all the different mats and challenging our partners to go to certain squares on the Old West co-ordinate grid.

Lastly we looked at the j2e Logo Programmer and challenged ourselves to write an algorithm that would leave a pathway like letters in our name – it was harder than we thought!

“I think my class might find the Logo Programmer hard, sometimes it can be a bit confusing to know which way to turn and you can accidentally go the wrong way.”

“I really liked the Beebot games, they look really like the real thing and I can have a go at this at home.”

“I enjoyed the turtle backgrounds, it was a bit of a surprise when you landed in some of the squares.”
