Outdoor Learning

We are very lucky to have an amazing outdoor space which contains wonderful textured and winding pathways, a mud kitchen, a water channel, a mound and some willow planting.

We now have a wonderful selection of trees including hornbeam, rowan, birch, holm oak, crab apple, apple, plum, cherry and pear as well as a beech hedgerow, shrubs, grasses, herbs and sensory planting. Thank you to our fantastic PTA for funding both this and the construction of a raised pond.

Parent's comments about the Outdoor space:

"It is great to see how the Outdoor space has developed in the last couple of years and it is clearly being so well used. The children obviously love it and it is a huge aid to their learning."

“We can’t get enough of Outdoor Learning! The children are thriving exploring the Outdoor classroom. The large variety of activities allows for each child to explore and follow his or her own interests and so be successful with their learning."

"What an amazing very special space. Lots of opportunity for diverse learning and taking what happens inside the classroom and applying it outside. Thank you for the invite."

We have worked with children in Jays, Blackbirds, Swallows and Doves to establish an allotment garden and teach them how to plant, grow and look after the fruit and vegetables. It would be a great help if parents who drop off and collect children from this area could closely supervise younger children to allow plants to get established. We hope the garden will continue grow and thrive so that many more children can enjoy it in the years to come.
